As a visual artist, my work hovers in the space from the lyrical to the codified and back again in search of connection, emotion and beauty. My painted images offer a narrative of struggle, place and transformation.
Leaving the West Coast in 2017 and relocating to the Kootenays, I knew the imposing mountain ranges encircling Kaslo and Kootenay Lake would influence my next body of work. I did not imagine a global pandemic and ongoing climate crisis changing the landscape in such a deep physical and emotional way.
“A Difficult Landscape”, mirrors the beauty of the West Kootenay that serves as inspiration for this series, while the underlying events of pandemic & climate change take me further into a new landscape.
