“Art in Transition” is a community engagement celebration of the evolution of my art as I have transitioned, being supported and seen by my community. My project began with the duality of having to live with secrets. Entire worlds and scenes that existed only inside of me, the sense of never feeling good enough or safe enough to share. By bringing those inner worlds and inner self into the world, in the community and without expectation, I hope to heal the rift and transition into a more authentic expression of myself, my art, and my way of living in the world and how I share it. My paintings were done in the community view, and I hope everyone can see themselves and the moments shared reflected in the art that is a collaboration between us.”
John Syd Waynest was born in 1987 in Canada, and lived in BC most of his life. He came to Kaslo at the age of 19 and started a business. He has as many interests and hobbies as he has unfinished projects and unfulfilled dreams, which is likely the way many artists live and probably impossible to change at this point anyways. Painter, gardener, technical support, poet, volunteer, he loves his community and learning.
