McCarthy, Sutton & Byrne brings together three acclaimed musicians from opposite shores of the Atlantic whose music finds a natural home in the shared folk traditions of Ireland and Newfoundland. All three are members of the iconic Irish band Danú, founded in 1995.

The trio features Benny McCarthy (button accordion), a founding member of Danú; Billy Sutton (fiddle,
mandolin & vocals), the gifted Newfoundland musician from St. John’s known for his work with The Fables and a member of Danú since 2020; and Tony Byrne (guitar & vocals), one of Ireland’s most in-demand accompanists and a longtime guitarist with Danú.

McCarthy, Sutton & Byrne are currently working on their highly anticipated new record. The trio, all members of the iconic Danú, are set to release a fresh collection of folk songs, tunes, and stories
drawn from Ireland, Newfoundland, and the North Atlantic. Blending their signature virtuosity, deep tradition, and warm chemistry, the album promises to deliver both beloved classics and exciting new material.

Together they craft a vibrant, deeply rooted sound that weaves reels, jigs, ballads, and songs drawn from Ireland’s rich traditional music, Newfoundland’s vibrant folk culture, and the broader North Atlantic tradition.
