Laura Adams

The Arctic: a delicate balance of strength and fragility

Professional mountain guide, international explorer and landscape artist Laura Adams has spent the past few years exploring the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and Greenland. Her paintings capture the unique light and dramatic moods of the Arctic.

Each works tells a story of the Arctic, and of the unprecedented rate of change that is impacting this strong and fragile environment.  The rapid loss of ice and frozen landscapes is accelerating both local and global warming, causing rapid changes in marine and terrestrial ecosystems, and impacting the Earth’s interdependent atmospheric and oceanic processes.

Laura’s powerful paintings convey the message that these are not only local issues, they are critical global problems with humbling consequences. How we respond is for each and every one of us to answer.
